Join us as we share the story of someone who came to Sweden out of curiosity — and ended up staying for 18 years.
With two degrees, four languages, and 16 years of professional experience behind him, Antonio faced two challenging years of unemployment before getting back on track.
His journey is a powerful reminder of resilience, hope, and the importance of never giving up.

During this talk, you’ll gain new insights into the challenges and opportunities migrants encounter, and what it really means to rebuild your life in a new country.

Ferry ride ➡️ Fairy tale. ✨

Just had the most magical day in Denmark! 🏰 Took the ferry from Helsingborg and in no time, the legendary Kronborg Castle—also known as Shakespeare’s Hamlet Castle—was right before our eyes.

A short walk and we were inside, immersed not only in incredible history and tales, but also in a beautiful Christmas atmosphere! 🎄 The castle was hosting a Christmas fair, complete with entertainment and a festive market!

So many delicious treats tasted, so much laughter shared! 🍯😂

💥 Being an international job seeker in Sweden can challenge even the strongest confidence — but: there are ways to deal with it! 🌍

Navigating whole new circumstances is tough in itself. On top of that, applying for roles, reaching out to new contacts — without much progress, is even tougher. Feeling unseen and unheard — unable to make the impact we know we can, pays its tribute. 🤯

This week’s Peers & Careers session with guest speaker, coach and Social Hub member Ishwariya Rajamohan FRSA helped us not only understand, but also tackle this problem. 💪

In her workshop “Building Your Confidence: Introducing The Confidence Dynamic™ Framework”, she reminded us:

✨ A lack of confidence is not a lack of ability — it’s a temporary disconnect from our personal power.✨

Our strength is still there. Always. We just need to reconnect with it.

So how do we do that?
💡 By engaging in what energizes us — what we love, what we’re good at, what gives us purpose. Even outside the “official” structures like a full-time job. When passion finds expression, confidence follows. ❤️

In an interactive second part of the session, Ishwariya encouraged us to make it practical:
👉 What is one small action step you can take today?

Our participants walked away highly inspired and encouraged — not only by Ishwariya’s insights, but also by the powerful support of peers navigating the same journey. 👥

Last Sunday was a perfect mix of both!

🌲 Morning Adventure in Dalby
On Sunday, we headed to Dalby National Park with our new team leader, Farhad! The short daylight hours gave us beautiful shifts in light. ✨
An unexpected encounter made it even more memorable: some friendly strangers showed us their freshly caught fish and even joined our group photo! 🎣📸
While waiting for the bus home, we played Pantomime and Broken Telephone using words from our native languages…So much laughter! 😄

☕ Afternoon Coffee Discovery
In the afternoon, some of us joined a guided session at Lunds Saluhall with @guatemalancoffee.se. 🙌We explored different flavours and learned the rhythm of a perfect pour-over. 🤎
It was eye-opening to realize how even a tiny change, like in the blooming step, can completely transform the taste! A truly new way to experience coffee! 🌟

We shared great tips on how to quantify your work experience – for example, by mentioning how many people you trained, events you organized, time saved, or percentages increased.

We also introduced the STAR method ⭐ to help craft stronger bullet points that highlight not just your tasks, but also your actions, results, and impact.

As always, also the following workshop part was super valuable – exchanging feedback with peers and our volunteer career mentors helps uncover blind spots in our CVs and improve layout, wording, and structure, all in a really supportive atmosphere. 🤝
