Interkultur i Lund is a non-profit association that supports new residents of Lund and the surrounding region ("Nya Lundabor"), to facilitate their establishment. Starting in February 2025, the association is offering an 8-9 week volunteer-based internship program, allowing participants to gain professional experience in one of our activity areas while also developing language skills and building social networks.

About Interkultur
Interkultur was founded in 2023 as an initiative by the basketball club IK Eos’ social sustainability program "Eos Cares". The aim of the association is to organize and empower the target group of "Nya Lundabor", in order to support their establishment.
Interkultur is a multi-sectional association, currently comprising six sections, each organising and supporting different segments of the target group:
- Ukrainian Unity, Ukrainian-speaking
- Al-Jasmin, Arabic-speaking
- Anatolia, Turkish-speaking
- Raha, Persian- & Dari-speaking
- Social Hub, English-speaking
- Português.Lund, Portuguese-speaking
Additionally, there is a seventh section, Kulturbro (Culture Bridge), which gathers established residents of Lund that are interested in meeting and supporting members of the other sections.
Every section offer social activities designed to meet the needs and interests of their members. Much of the work is carried out by members engaging as interns, volunteers, and activity leaders. For more information on ongoing activities, visit www.interkultur.nu/verksamhet.
Internship program at Interkultur - Youth Work
During the period from June 16 to August 15, 2025, Interkultur offers an internship focused on youth work. As an intern, you will help lead teams of young people participating in three-week-long summer job placements. Together with these youths, you will organize activities across a variety of areas, including family-friendly summer events, youth projects, language training, and lunch service. The internship will provide you with substantial hands-on experience — both in leadership and in engaging with young people — as well as in coordinating activities that foster social inclusion.
The internship can range from 20 hours per week up to full-time, depending on what best suits the candidate. It is volunteer-based, meaning that no formal decision from the Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen) or other institutions is required. However, those who wish to may apply to have the internship formally registered with the Employment Service as an official work practice. From Interkultur’s side, the internship is unpaid. Occasional vacation weeks can be scheduled during the period.
The work can be conducted in both Swedish and English, and many of the young participants also speak languages commonly used within Interkultur’s various sections — primarily Arabic and Dari. As an intern, you will report to a Supervisor at Interkultur, who is responsible for setting your schedule, outlining your work tasks, and conducting personal interviews at both the start and conclusion of the internship.
After the internship period, there may be opportunities to participate in ongoing 8-week cycles. We strongly encourage interns to stay involved in the organization’s activities for a longer period, as this creates better conditions for developing professional skills, language proficiency, and social networks.
Who should apply?
For this internship, we are looking for someone who wants to engage in youth work, both for their own personal development and to support the young people working with us as well as everyone who takes part in our activities. No prior experience in the field is required, but having sufficient time and a genuine desire to contribute to the association’s activities is a must. A good conversational proficiency in English or Swedish is necessary.
How to Apply
You apply by filling out this form. If you haven’t previously been involved with Interkultur, we also ask that you email your CV to hr@interkultur.nu. For the June–August round, please submit your application no later than May 31. We will be interviewing and selecting candidates continuously during the application period, so the earlier you apply, the sooner we can get started.
In conclusion
We hope this announcement has caught your interest, and look forward to getting to know you!
